RESUMEN
Como consecuencia de la elevada incidencia de la enfermedad tuberculosa a partir de los años ochenta y noventa se inicia en España la implementación de Programas de Prevención y Control de Tuberculosis (PPCTs) tal y como recomendaban diversos organismos internacionales.
Los objetivos básicos de un PPCT se basan en mejorar la vigilancia epidemiológica y la detección de casos; el control de los casos; la prevención, y aportar prestaciones sociales a los casos más desfavorecidos.
La evaluación de los PPCTs permite conocer la efectividad de los mismos y modificar las actividades de cara a mejorar dicha efectividad, así que éstos deben contar con objetivos claramente cuantificados y, por tanto, evaluables. La finalidad de los PPCTs es la erradicación de la enfermedad, por lo que hay que insistir en la asignación de los recursos necesarios que les permita llevar a cabo las acciones precisas para alcanzar los objetivos planteados.

ABSTRACT
As a consequence of the spread of tuberculosis disease from the 1980s and 1990s, the implementation of Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Programs (TPCP) as recommended by the WHO, the UILTB or the CDC began in Spain.
The basic objectives of a TPCP are based on the following subprogram: a) Epidemiological surveillance and case detection subprogram; b) Control subprogram; c) Prevention subprogram; d) Social benefit subprogram.
