RESUMEN
Se presentan 78 casos con cáncer primitivo de hígado estudiados durante los últimos 9 años en los Hospitales Clínicos Quirúrgicos Docentes ?Manuel Ascunce?, ?Amalia Simoni? y Oncológico ?Madame Curie? de la ciudad de Camagüey en el período comprendido entre el 1º de enero de 1994 al 1º de noviembre del 2002, ambos inclusive. El diagnóstico se fundamentó en el estudio histopatológico en esta entidad en las citadas instituciones y en el lapso de tiempo antes mencionado. Se pone de manifiesto el aumento de la frecuencia de este proceso en los últimos años. Se comentan los aspectos clínicos, así como los medios diagnósticos de mayor importancia en esta enfermedad en nuestro medio. Se señalan los antecedentes, así como las complicaciones que ocasionaron la muerte en esta neoplasia y los principales sitios de metástasis.
ABSTRACT
Seventy-eight cases of primitive liver Cancer studied during the last 9 years in the ?Manuel Ascunce?, ?Amalia Simoni? Clinical-surgical Hospitals and the ?Madame Curie?of Oncology in the City of Camagüeyin the period between the 1st of January of 1994 to the 1st of November of 2002 (both dates inclusive) are presented in this investigations proyect. The diagnosis was based on histopathologic studies; in this entity in above-named institution and the asid period of time. It is noted the increase in the frequency of this process/ pathology in the last years. The most important clinical aspects and diagnosis procedures in this disease in our area are high lighted (mentioned). The most relevant family and personal histories, as well as the complications that led to the death of these cancer patients and the principal sites of metastasis are also presented.
